Eight months!

Drew is eight months old today and gosh he seems to be changing so fast right now. It’s been a pretty low key month which has been nice (despite the rainy weekends). Overall the biggest thing going on in our worlds is overcoming a little bit of a challenge at daycare. He’s moved up rooms which I was originally not ok with. I have to say though that he really does seem to notice the other (much more mobile) kids in his room and I do think it may be motivating him. Unfortunately he hasn’t quite figured out how to nap in his new room which produces a very tired baby when I pick him up each day.20130512-220348.jpg

Here’s what’s up in Drew’s world right now:

Weight: No idea. We go back to the doctor for his 9 month check up next month.

Health: Sigh……..we’ll just skip this section. Let’s just say he must be building an immunity of gold. As I type this though he’s feeling much better from his most recent cold.

Sleep: Eh. Seems to be pretty common

for Drew to wake up at least 1-2 times a night lately. Sometimes he falls right back to sleep on his own, sometimes it takes a walk down the hall to give him back his nook. I would not say I’m sleep deprived but I also don’t remember the last time he slept straight through the night.

Personality: He’s extremely playful and so sweet. His mini tantrums from last month have all but vanished. He’s also extremely curious and observant right now. The

way he studies certain things amazes us. At times, he does seem to be getting a little more attached. On rare occasions he has started crying if we leave the room or when we put him to bed. Hopefully that’s not a sign of things to come.

Eating: Let’s see…..the new foods for this month include mixed veggies, summer squash, peaches, mango and yogurt! Meal time is one of his favorite times of the day. I usually make his food for the week on Sundays and honestly, it could not be easier.

Teeth: nope, not yet. Still gummy smiles.

Loving…toys! He got all kinds of toys for Christmas and this month he has really gotten into them. Surprisingly they keep his attention forever. 20130512-221242.jpg

Ok maybe not forever but for a lot longer than I thought they would. 🙂

He still loves his jumperoo and falling asleep each night with his baseball blanky and now his baseball teddy bear (Joey). Speaking of falling asleep, he prefers to sleep across his bed. 20130512-221402.jpg

He also loves frozen apples (which he sucks like a popsicle through this mesh feeder thingy), when we wear hats, remote controls / iphones, being thrown in the air by his Daddy and ceiling fans.

Clothes: 9 months in just about everything

Firsts: word! He said DaDa at 7.5 months and has not stopped saying it since. Other firsts: birthday party invite (Lexie Brown) and Mother’s day (I can count that right? Or is that my first rather than his?)

Milestones: He’s become a pro at sitting up. Every once in a while he topples backwards but not often. This was actually the first day he did it on his own right around 7.5 months. 20130512-220800.jpg

Also – He’s finally figured out how to roll from his back to his belly. One night I woke up to him crying/whining at 4:30am and walked down the hall to find him on his belly. I think he was confused…maybe he wasn’t sure how he got there? Since then flipping to his belly while in his bed has been a pretty regular occurrence. Sheesh, took him long enough. Is he crawling? No. Not even close, however the past few days we’ve noticed a big difference in him really moving around on the ground and in his bed going after the toys that are not within reach….mostly rolling to them but he at least looks determined to move.

Just a couple more pictures from this month….20130512-220450.jpg

I had such a fabulous Mother’s Day! I was spoiled all day long. It was a beautiful day and we spent most of it outside planting flowers, mulching and other yard work….which yes, is exactly what I wanted to do. 20130512-221521.jpg

It’s hard to believe at the end of summer, we’ll be celebrating Drew’s first birthday. We have a busy couple of months ahead. Can’t wait!
